Dense Pack Wall Insulation

During Arizona's building booms, homes went up fast. Sometimes too fast. Inspections got rushed, corners got cut — and sometimes entire wall cavities were left empty. If certain rooms run hotter than others or your energy bills don't add up, your walls might be the reason. And it's not just about energy. Got an interior wall you'd love to soundproof? Dense pack dramatically cuts down on noise between rooms — so you're not hearing everything happening on the other side.

Attic Insulation Installation

Most Phoenix-area homes don't have enough attic insulation. We assess what's there and install it the right way — complete coverage, correct depth, no shortcuts.

What Is Attic Insulation?

Attic insulation is the primary barrier between your living space and the extreme heat of a Phoenix-area attic — which can reach temperatures well above 150°F in summer. When insulation is insufficient or installed incorrectly, that heat transfers directly into your home, forcing your AC to work overtime and driving up your energy bills.

The Problem With Most Phoenix Homes

The majority of homes in the Valley were built during periods of rapid construction, when contractors were focused on speed rather than quality. Insulation was often installed too thin, left with gaps, or skipped in certain areas entirely. Most homeowners have no idea — because it's not something you can see from inside your home.

Here's the thing: even new construction homes built to minimum code are often underinsulated for our climate. Existing homes — even homes that were built in the last couple of years — are severely under-insulated. Minimum code was designed as a legal baseline, not a comfort standard. Here in the Arizona Valley, that gap between "code minimum" and "what actually works" shows up in your energy bills and in rooms that never quite cool down.

We go into your attic, measure what's actually there, and compare it against what your home actually needs for our climate — not just what the minimum code requires. In most cases, we find insulation levels well below either standard.

Signs You May Need More Insulation

  • Certain rooms are consistently hotter or colder than others
  • Your AC runs all day but the house still won't reach your set temperature
  • Energy bills are higher than your neighbors with similar-sized homes
  • Your home heats up very quickly after the AC shuts off

How We Do It

We don't just blow in insulation and call it done. We assess what's already there, identify any problem areas or gaps, and install new insulation to the correct R-value for our climate — ensuring complete, even coverage across the entire attic floor.

What to Expect

  • Free assessment — we tell you exactly what's there and what's needed
  • Professional installation with proper depth and full coverage
  • No mess left behind — we clean up completely
  • Immediate improvement in comfort, often felt the same day

Insulation Removal & Replacement

Sometimes adding more isn't enough. We safely remove old, damaged, or contaminated insulation and replace it with a fresh, properly installed system.

When Is Removal & Replacement Necessary?

Not all insulation problems can be solved by simply adding more on top. In some cases, the existing insulation needs to be completely removed before new insulation can be properly installed. We'll always assess and recommend honestly — we never push removal if it isn't needed.

Common Reasons for Removal

  • Pest or rodent infestation has contaminated the existing insulation
  • Water damage or roof leaks have caused mold or moisture issues
  • The insulation is old, compressed, and no longer performing
  • Air sealing work is needed that requires access to the attic floor
  • Existing insulation was installed so poorly it's causing problems

Our Removal Process

We use professional-grade vacuum equipment to safely remove old insulation from your attic without creating a mess in your living space. All removed material is bagged and disposed of properly.

Once the attic is cleared, we can address any underlying issues — air sealing gaps, fixing damaged areas, or treating for pests — before installing fresh, properly installed insulation.

What You Get

  • Safe, clean removal using professional vacuum equipment
  • Inspection of the attic after removal to identify any hidden issues
  • Fresh installation to current R-value standards
  • A home that performs the way it should have from the start

Honest Assessment First

We never recommend removal just to increase the job size. If adding insulation on top of your existing material is the right answer, we'll tell you that. Our goal is to fix the problem correctly — not to sell you more work than you need.

Air Sealing

Insulation slows heat — air sealing stops it from moving in the first place. We identify and seal the gaps that let hot attic air into your home.

What Is Air Sealing?

Air sealing is the process of identifying and closing the gaps, cracks, and penetrations in your home's envelope that allow outside air to flow freely in and out. In a Phoenix summer, that means hot attic air is constantly infiltrating your living space — even if you have adequate insulation.

Insulation slows heat transfer. Air sealing stops air movement. Both are needed for a truly efficient, comfortable home.

Where Does Air Leak In?

  • Plumbing and electrical penetrations through the ceiling
  • Recessed light fixtures (a major source of air leakage)
  • Attic hatches and pull-down stairs
  • HVAC ducts and boots where they meet the ceiling
  • Gaps at wall top plates throughout the attic floor

Why It Matters in Arizona

In Phoenix, where summer attic temperatures can exceed 150°F, uncontrolled air infiltration is a major source of heat gain and energy loss. Sealing these gaps can dramatically reduce the load on your AC and make your home noticeably more comfortable.

Our Air Sealing Process

We walk the entire attic floor and systematically seal all identified leakage points using professional-grade foam and caulk. After sealing, we reinstall your insulation properly on top — ensuring both systems work together for maximum performance.

  • Full attic walkthrough to identify all leakage points
  • Professional sealing with foam and caulk
  • Insulation reinstalled correctly after sealing is complete
  • Optional blower door testing to measure before/after results

Blower Door Testing

Stop guessing at what's wrong with your home. A blower door test gives us real data on air leakage — so we can recommend the right fix, not a guess.

What Is a Blower Door Test?

A blower door test is a diagnostic tool used to measure how airtight your home is. A powerful fan is temporarily mounted in an exterior door frame and used to depressurize the house — allowing us to measure the total air leakage rate and identify exactly where air is escaping.

Instead of guessing at what's wrong with your home's performance, a blower door test gives us real data to work with.

Why Get Tested?

  • Understand exactly how much air leakage your home has
  • Pinpoint the specific locations where air is entering and escaping
  • Get a before-and-after measurement after air sealing work is done
  • Make informed decisions about where to invest in improvements
  • Required for certain energy efficiency certifications and rebates

What Happens During the Test?

The test itself takes about an hour. We mount the blower door unit, run the test, and walk through the home with you to discuss the results in plain language — with no obligation to proceed with any additional work.

  • Non-invasive — no damage to your home
  • Results explained clearly and simply
  • Clear recommendations based on actual data
  • Can be combined with air sealing for a complete solution

New Construction Insulation

The best time to get insulation right is before the walls close up. We work with builders and homeowners to ensure new homes perform from day one.

Get It Right From the Start

Getting insulation right during construction is one of the best investments a builder can make. Done correctly from the start, it means fewer callbacks, happier homeowners, and a finished product that stands behind your reputation. We work with builders and homeowners throughout the Valley to ensure insulation is installed properly before the walls close up.

Why New Construction Insulation Matters

Building code sets the minimum standard that contractors are legally required to meet — nothing more. In most climates, minimum code insulation is a reasonable starting point. But in our desert heat, where attic temperatures routinely exceed 150°F, minimum code insulation simply doesn't hold up. It's the floor, not the ceiling — and for homes in the Valley, it's rarely enough to keep you truly comfortable or your energy bills under control.

  • Arizona's extreme climate demands higher performance than minimum code requires — building code is the baseline the law requires, not the standard your family deserves
  • Fixing insulation problems after drywall is installed is costly and disruptive
  • Proper insulation from the start means lower energy bills for the life of the home
  • Air sealing during construction is far easier and more complete than retrofitting

What We Provide

We offer insulation installation for new construction homes throughout the Valley and Pinal County. Our work meets or exceeds current energy code requirements, and we take the time to ensure complete coverage — including areas that are commonly missed or rushed by production crews.

Working With Us

  • Flexible scheduling to work within your construction timeline
  • Clear communication with builders, GCs, and homeowners
  • Installation to current energy code standards and beyond
  • Available for single homes, spec homes, and larger developments

About Maricopa Insulation Experts

A local company built on construction knowledge, building science, and a commitment to doing things right.

Who We Are

Maricopa Insulation Experts was founded in 2016 by Kirk Evans — a construction professional who has spent his entire career understanding how homes are built, and more importantly, how they perform.

Kirk has been in construction since graduating high school, spending years building homes across the Valley before turning his focus to one of the most overlooked aspects of home performance: insulation. What started as a gap he kept seeing in the homes he worked on became the foundation of a business built around fixing it.

Built on Building Science

Most insulation companies focus on speed. We focus on knowledge. Since 2018, Kirk and our team have attended extensive training programs with some of the world's leading building scientists — learning how homes actually perform, how air moves through a structure, how heat transfers, and what it really takes to make a home comfortable, efficient, and healthier to live in.

That knowledge shows up in every job we do. When we walk into an attic, we're not just looking at insulation levels — we're reading the whole picture. We can quickly identify why a room is too hot, why energy bills are higher than they should be, or why a home that's only a few years old is already underperforming. That's building science applied to real homes, and it's something most insulation contractors simply don't have.

Our Approach

We're a local company with experienced crews who take the time to do the job correctly. No shortcuts, no incomplete coverage, no guesswork. We assess what's actually in your attic, identify what's wrong or missing, and install insulation the way it should have been done from the start.

We also believe in being straight with our customers. If you need more insulation, we'll tell you. If you don't, we'll tell you that too. Our reputation is built on honest assessments and quality work — and we intend to keep it that way.

Why It Matters Here

We live and work in the same communities we serve. We know what Arizona summers do to a poorly insulated home — because we see it every day. Our mission is simple: help Valley homeowners live more comfortably, spend less on energy, and know that the work was done right.

"Most homes don't have enough insulation because it was never installed correctly in the first place. We fix that."

— Kirk Evans, Owner

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions we hear from homeowners.

General Questions

How do I know if I need more insulation?

The most common signs are rooms that are consistently hotter or colder than the rest of the house, an AC that runs constantly without reaching your set temperature, and energy bills that seem higher than they should be. If your home has never had insulation added, there's a good chance it is below current standards. The only way to know for sure is to have someone go up and actually measure it.

Do I need to be home during the work?

We ask that someone be home or available at the start of the job so we can walk through the scope of work and answer any questions. Most homes require us to access the attic either through the garage or another attic access from inside the home. However, once we get started, you don't need to supervise — our crew handles everything and we clean up before we leave.

How long does the job take?

Most attic insulation jobs are completed in a single day. Larger jobs or those that include air sealing or insulation removal may take a bit longer. We'll give you a clear timeframe when we assess your home so you know exactly what to expect.

How much does it cost?

Every home is different, so we don't quote prices without seeing what's actually there. Factors like your attic size, current insulation levels, and whether or not air sealing is desired all affect the cost. What we can tell you is that we're honest about what you need — we won't recommend work that isn't necessary. Contact us for a free assessment and quote.

Will I actually feel a difference?

In most cases, yes — and often quickly. Many of our customers notice a difference in comfort within the first day or two. Energy savings typically show up on the following month's utility bill. Results depend on how underinsulated the home was to begin with, but homes with major insulation deficiencies tend to see the most dramatic improvement.

About Our Services

What type of insulation do you install?

We primarily install blown-in insulation for attics, which provides complete, gap-free coverage that rolled batt insulation can't match — especially around obstructions like trusses, wiring, can lights and HVAC equipment. We'll explain exactly what we're installing and why during your assessment.

What is air sealing and do I need it?

Air sealing is the process of closing the gaps and penetrations in your attic that allow hot outside air to flow directly into your living space. Insulation slows heat transfer — air sealing stops unwanted air movement. Many homes benefit from both, especially in our climate where attic temperatures can exceed 150°F. Beyond comfort and efficiency, air sealing also helps make your home healthier. Attics can harbor dust, insulation particles, pest droppings, and other contaminants. When air flows freely from the attic into your living space through gaps and penetrations, it brings those contaminants with it. Sealing those pathways helps keep that air — and everything in it — out of the spaces where your family lives and breathes. We'll tell you honestly during your assessment whether air sealing makes sense for your home.

What is a blower door test?

A blower door test measures how airtight your home is by temporarily depressurizing it with a powerful fan. It tells us exactly how much air is leaking in and out — and helps us pinpoint where. It takes about an hour and is non-invasive. It's a great tool for homeowners who want real data before deciding what improvements to make. Our free assessment covers a full attic inspection — we'll measure your insulation levels, check for problem areas, and give you an honest recommendation. A blower door test is a more advanced diagnostic process that requires specialized equipment and takes more time to run properly, so that's a separate service with a fee. If you're curious whether your home would benefit from one, I'm happy to talk through it.

Do you work on new construction?

Yes. We work with builders and homeowners on new construction projects to ensure insulation is installed correctly before the walls close up. Getting it right from the start prevents costly problems down the road and means the home performs the way it should from day one.

Do you work with realtors or on homes being sold?

Absolutely. We've helped real estate professionals get homes through inspection and to closing by completing required insulation repairs quickly and correctly. If you're a realtor or homeowner dealing with an inspection issue, give us a call — we understand timelines matter.

Dense Pack Wall Insulation

During Arizona's building booms, homes went up fast. Sometimes too fast — and sometimes entire wall cavities were left empty. We fix that.

What is Dense Pack Insulation?

Dense pack is a method of filling existing wall cavities with insulation — without tearing out your drywall. Using specialized equipment, we pack cellulose insulation tightly and completely into the wall cavity. No gaps, no voids, no guesswork.

Think You Might Have a Problem?

Hot rooms, walls that feel warm to the touch, or energy bills that just don't make sense are all signs worth a closer look. In some cases, an infrared camera can help us see exactly where a wall cavity may be empty or underinsulated — giving us a clearer picture before any work begins. Every home is different, and we'll recommend the right diagnostic approach for your situation.

What It Solves

  • Hot rooms and uneven temperatures throughout your home
  • Higher than expected energy bills from uninsulated exterior or garage walls
  • Noise traveling too easily through interior walls — whether that's street traffic, a TV in the next room, or just wanting more privacy between bedrooms

Who It's For

Any homeowner dealing with comfort or noise issues that insulation could solve — garage walls, exterior walls that were never properly insulated, or interior walls where quiet and privacy matter.

No pressure, no upsell — just an honest look at what your home actually needs.
